I have always loved Black and White portraits that pull the contrast really deep. I have been too afraid to try it because I was worried that the person I took the portrait of would be upset at the blemishes. Because of that fear, I never asked. My creative partner, Brent, and I were out to test a new lens. Jeremy has a wood shop and let us come over to get some test footage of the new lens. On the way over, I said to Brent, "I would love to take one of those black and white photos where the contrast on their face is really deep. Someday, I'll find someone who will let me try."
Chatting with Jeremy through the day as we did different angles and tried out our lens, he mentions to me "I LOVE those black and white photos where the contrast on their face is really deep!" I was shocked that it had been 2 hours since I had uttered those exact words! Surprisingly, I was still a little nervous to ask, but I mustered up the courage and said "Can I take one of those of you?" UNsurprisingly, he said YES!
I took the photo and messed around with the editing and got this photo. And I'm really proud for my first black and white portrait.
It's just the beginning....
Thanks to Jeremy for trusting me with his portrait!
